Canva Pro Tip

Hi There!

I’ve been asked lately which is better, Canva or Photoshop, and to tell you the truth both are great in their own capacity and I actually use both for different kinds of projects and with different clients. But in today’s tutorial, I’m going to show you if you have the Pro Version of Canva how to remove the background of an image in Canva. It’s really simple!

But I will also show you the results here in case you are curious. I have a client who is building a parts shop onto his website and some of the parts really large and can’t really fit inside a lightbox, so I knew that I might have to do some work on it to make it a shop-quality picture.

I went down to his shop and took pictures of these Jacks. But the original image isn’t the best to really put on a website. So I just popped this image in Canva…photoshop was my second choice if it didn’t work in Canva and I was able to successfully remove the background with the click of a button!

Now I will say depending on the detail of the background you want to remove, photoshop might be a better option because you have more control over what parts of a background are removed using different tools and settings in photoshop, but for simple images and literally just one click, Canva removed the background from this image without me having to go back and make any touch-ups. In photoshop it is a little more time-consuming, but the reason for that is that photoshop gives you control on what you perceive is the background, while Canva is different. There was an image I uploaded to photoshop where it removed more than just the background and removed other parts of the photos that were similar to the background color, so I had to use the restore feature to bring in that part of the image. But doing that didn’t give me as much control over the fine details, so the only way I could really do it was bring it into photoshop and remove the background that way.
